Are you in the market for a new-build in Burnside?

ByBrett Pilgrim

Detached homes are the property of choice for many people, not least because they offer plenty of space and perhaps even an opportunity for expansion. However, for buyers across the country, it's become apparent that not just any detached property will do, as new homes have started to find favour.

The latest New Home Sales Report from the Housing Industry Association (HIA) showed that transactions of this type of real estate were up 0.5 per cent between May and June. It was detached properties leading the charge, as approvals rose 1.7 per cent, offsetting some of the 2.9 per cent decline in multi-unit sales.

Chief economist of the HIA Harley Dale said: "Total sales appear to have peaked for the cycle back in April, but remain at an extremely elevated level.

"It can consequently be said that new home sales held their head up high throughout 2014-15."

There's further good news for buyers of detached property in Burnside, as it's also emerged in recent days that market confidence is on the rebound. September quarter results from the ANZ/Property Council Survey reveal a reading of 131; that's a figure that has been unchanged since the three months to June.

With construction levels rising and the cash rate staying at its all-time low, it's perhaps not surprising that so many people are hoping to make the most of these positive conditions.
